About Kerrie

Kerrie first studied fine art at the Tasmanian School of Art in Hobart Australia in the sixties but, until recently, painted only sporadically. After her love of painting was re-ignited while living in the Pilbara area in Western Australia, she is now a dedicated full-time artist and has established her position in the art world. Kerrie's Pilbara series evokes the hidden geometry and amazing colours of the area as well as capturing the idiosyncratic characteristics of the working population of the local towns.

After moving to the green scapes of Perth in the south of Western Australia in 2006, Kerrie had to change perspective. Water dominates the city hence her current works in the Aqua series – no more Pindan red earth.

Judith Blackall, Head of Artistic Programs, Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, awarded Kerrie First Prize in the prestigious Cossack Art Award for her category in 2008 and in the 2009 exhibition she was awarded a highly commended by Gary Dufour, Chief Curator and Deputy Director of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, and artist and curator, Kevin Robertson. Kerrie was also awarded first prize in 2009 for Best Contemporary Work at the MCAA Art Awards awarded by Lyn DiCiero of the Artists Chronicle. Her most recent award, in 2010, was the City of Canning Acquisitive Art Award. Kerrie's work has been highly commended by the legendary art critic, educator and first woman Director of the National Gallery of Australia, Betty Churcher.

Kerrie works predominately in acrylic on large canvasses but dabbles occasionally in oils and enjoys pencil and pen and ink drawing.

Love all the paintings.

Eucalyptus 2 may be my new favourite.

Great paintings especially those of the Pilbara. Best I like Munjina because I've seen just that place many times when driving from Port Hedland to Newman. Keep up the good work!

Hi,
Got your card from Atwell Gallery - we really love your paintings on the website and especially the bark collection. Some of them are marked as sold - that is, the ones we would have bought. We're now waiting for more to come, hope you do some more bark ones.

Congratulations, Kerrie, on your recent win. You must have a few awards under your belt by now.
